7.Survive Bucharest

Bucharest is not exactly friendly to the unprepared visitor. The city, however, is not at all as bad as you might have heard. After the traumatic post-WWII decades (a major earthquake in 1977, massive demolitions in the 80s), the city is slowly healing. If you’re not after a quiet vacation, this is an interesting time to be in Bucharest (see e.g. this somewhat bombastic article in the New York Times).
