welcome

November 24, 2007

This is the online home of the 2008 spring term concepts course. We created this page for our students at the Faculty of Communication and PR, Bucharest. (If you’re not one of them, you’re welcome to come back and have a look at what we’re doing. Kick-off is in January.)

This is a class about the nature of concepts – what they are and what roles they play in our mental life. Usually, students have enough trouble with one teacher. There’ll be double trouble in our course. One of us, Elena, is a PhD student in linguistics. The other, George, is a PhD student in philosophy. Though concepts are common parlance, it’s not easy to actually study them. We hope that a a bipolar perspective will help.

Soon you will find here:

* up-to-date information about the course sessions, assignments, relevant events, schedule changes etc;

* the syllabus for this class;

* information about evaluation and grading;

* study materials and links to online resources;

* comments about class discussions, feedback from us and from students.

Please leave any questions you may have as comments to this post.
